A week or so ago, a young lady’s bungee jump rope broke while she was jumping in Zambia. She was very lucky to survive. I wouldn’t have the courage to bungee jump in the first place – here’s the story of what happened next http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-16540755
Zambia’s Minister for Tourism decided that the only way to prove to potential visitors to Zambia that bungee jumping there was safe was to jump himself. How many Government ministers in the so-called ‘developed’ world would have taken it upon themselves to do that?
Contrast that with the reaction of the Managing Director of the owners of the Costa Concordia, the massive vessel (pictured above) that has been in the news this week for all the wrong reasons. As soon as he found out about the terrible accident he moved to distance himself from any responsibility. Which of these men displayed the greatest leadership? You decide!
Detached retinas or jail?
Having been to jail I think I would prefer that over detached retinas Clare. Hope I never have to make that choice! 🙂
